Herbal Healers Tea Bar & Gift Shop is a small family business, that opened its doors in 2013.  We specialize in local Belizean organic teas, juices, smoothies, and bitters.  Our gift shop features many of our herbal products, including salves, dried teas, wine, bitters, and many local crafts.

 

Herbal Healers Tea Bar & Gift Shop is owned and operated by husband and wife team Krishna Castillo and Desiree Baptist.  Krishna is the herbal mastermind behind the operations.  His love and knowledge of plants, and their medicinal properties, can be seen throughout the entire yard.  Born and raised in the Garifuna village of Hopkins, the knowledge of plants was passed down to Krishna at a very early age.  He grew up learning how to identify certain plants and quickly learned their many medicinal uses.  His passion for showcasing his culture and the flora and fauna of his country, inspired him to create a local Tea Bar where both tourists and locals can enjoy and learn more about the many plants Belize has to offer.

 

Desiree grew up in Chicago, and spent many years in Washington State and California before moving to Belize.  Her family is Belizean, so in many ways this was a homecoming for her.  Her love of eating and living nautrally fit in well in Hopkins.  After running her own home shcool for several years, she was excited to become more involved in her passion of healthy living.  Over the 15 years of living in Belize, she learned a lot about the local plants and makes salves, mosquito repelent, herbal oils, lip balm, and other herbal skin products available in the gift shop.  Desiree is also a certified Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, and teaches classes and gives workshops about a variety of nutrition related topics.
